How to make DIY face pack or scrub using natural ingredients

The world of beauty is truly fascinating — there’s a product launched every other day! We are all spoilt for choice, but are all the ingredients that go into these potions safe? Not too sure. That’s exactly why it is better to lean on natural ingredients to make your favourite products, including face scrubs or packs.Yes, you can lean on a DIY face pack for to take care of your skin.

Health coach Dimple Jangda, who regularly shares Ayurveda-inspired tips and tricks for health and wellness woes on Instagram, revealed an easy way to make an “organic and healthy” pack that you can make at home.

Here’s how to make a DIY face pack with natural ingredients

1. A base:

It’s not as hard as you think! Your kitchen is a storehouse of organic ingredients! In case you want to make a base, Jangda advises you to go for ground chickpea flour, ground green moong beans, ground red lentils, or even grounded rice. In fact, did you know? Grounded rice has been in use by Chinese women for thousands of years to take care of their skin.

2. Mixing agent:

You also need a mixing agent, in case of a face pack or scrub. Use yoghurt if you have dry skin, fresh cream in case of very dry skin, and rose water if you have sensitive skin. Raw milk works, in case you want to de-tan your skin. In certain cases, fresh buttermilk can also work as a good mixing agent. Yes, you heard it right!

3. Lightening agent:

Yes, neither did we know that a lightning agent is needed in case you want to make a face pack or scrub at home. As the name suggests, this agent is used to lighten and detoxify the tissues. What can you use? Jangda recommends using lemon or sundried orange peel powder. In either case, these are enriched with vitamin C, which explains its lightening properties.

4. Detoxification:

Certain ingredients also help to detoxify the skin, and remove the impurities. One of them is turmeric, which is a preferred ingredient in face packs and scrubs. After all, it has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral properties, and is healthy for the skin.

How to use the DIY face pack?

Jangda recommends mixing one ingredient from the four categories to use it as a face pack. Leave it on for 15-30 minutes, and either rinse it off or scrape your skin upwards with gentle strokes to remove dead skin cells.
