Here’s how to use it as a cleanser: Use 2 tablespoons of green tea infusion with 1 tablespoon honey. Mix it well. Apply it to the skin, covering your neck. Now massage with it for 2 minutes all over the face and neck and rinse off with water.
2. As a scrub
By physically exfoliating your skin, the scrub helps to remove the dead skin cells, dirt, and excess oil. Dr Dadu says, “Green tea contains antioxidants, and has powerful anti-inflammatory properties which are great for the skin’s needs.”
“Along with that, it is a powerful antibacterial agent for treating acne and unclogging pores. Polyphenols in green tea damage bacterial membranes and fight against infection,” she adds.
Here’s how to use it as a scrub: For a great face scrub, add a teaspoon of loose leaf green tea, or the contents of a tea bag with an equal amount of the usual face wash. Stir well, then wet the face and neck, apply the face scrub gently all over, and then rotate in clockwise motions until you have scrubbed your skin clean. Wash off well and pat dry.
3. As a toner
A good toner is an essential part of a skincare routine because it removes the dirt and extra oil and helps to balance the pH of your skin. And green tea toner can work well on your skin because “it contains the polyphenolic compound EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), which is antioxidant and anti-inflammatory in nature and this can help to prevent acne and other skin infections,” says Dr Dadu.
Here’s how to use it as a toner: Set apart around 100 ml of brewed and cooled green tea, dip some cotton wool in it and then apply it all over your face. This is one of the most effective toners you can get your hands-on, and can be used both in the morning as well as at night.
4. Use for chapped lips
If you are looking for a safe alternative for a lip balm for your chapped lips, green is a perfect choice. It can help to heal cracked than chapped lips because of the presence of antioxidants, antibacterial properties, and vitamins.
Here’s how to use it for chapped lips: To alleviate the sting of dry and chapped lips, apply a green tea bag that is soaked in warm water over the lips for a few minutes. This will hydrate your lips like never before.

Here’s how to use it as a face mask: Green tea powder can be mixed with yogurt, milk, honey, and a variety of other ingredients to create face packs that come with numerous benefits. Brew 50ml green tea and then refrigerate for an hour. Add about four tablespoons of palm sugar to the cooled tea, and mix thoroughly until the mixture thickens. You can add a teaspoon of olive oil to this if you have dry skin. Use this mask to exfoliate your face making sweeping upward motions. Use twice a week for best results.
6. Use green tea bags as eye masks
According to Dr Dadu, “Antioxidants present in green tea contribute to cell regeneration. It contains the ingredient EGCG, which is a catechin that can reactivate cells. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, age spots, wrinkles, and dark circles.”
Apart from this, “Caffeine and tannins in green tea help shrink blood vessels around the eyes, making it a miracle for treating puffy eyes and dark circles,” Dr Dadu adds.
Here’s how to use it as an eye mask: Brew some green tea bags in boiling water for 30 minutes. Take out the tea bags and squeeze the extra liquid out of them. Place it on your eyes to treat puffy eyes, dark circles, and other skin issues.
